Art is intertwined with the land and heritage of the Tamils. Art is inseparably bound to the life and emotions of Tamils. To keep these art forms alive, to protect traditional folk arts from fading away, and to nurture and encourage artistic skills in students from childhood, the Government of Tamil Nadu introduced the Arts Festival for School Students.

This festival, which brings out the unique talents of children, has become the precious crown jewel of government schools.

For Harshini Nethra, a Class 11 student at Chennai Ashok Nagar Government Girls Higher Secondary School, the turning point in life was the government’s remarkable initiative, the School Arts Festival.
