The Dravidian Model Government continues to roll out various welfare schemes for teachers. As part of this effort, 2,457 graduate teachers who successfully cleared the Teacher Recruitment Board (TRB) exam were issued appointment orders at an event held in Chennai. During the function at the Nehru Indoor Stadium, the Skill Development and TN SPARK programmes for students were also launched by Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin.

Wishes from the Chief Minister
While recovering in hospital, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin instructed that the event go ahead without delay and be presided over by Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin. Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, moved by the Chief Minister’s dedication, read out his congratulatory message:

“Schools are the seedbeds of a society’s knowledge. Teaching is the noblest profession that shapes future generations. Teachers, by being role models, guide students towards their goals and dreams.”
The CM highlighted several initiatives by the Dravidian Model Government for teachers, including: • Distribution of laptops to 79,723 graduate teachers • Appointment of 14,019 temporary teachers • Increase in higher education scholarship for teachers’ children to ₹50,000 • Comprehensive health check-ups every three years • Launch of the Professor Anbazhagan Award for multi-talented teachers

Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi's Remarks
Minister Anbil Mahesh congratulated the newly appointed teachers and urged: “Incorporate moral values in classroom teaching. Teachers are the reason our Dravidian Model Government is able to champion scientific thinking. As the Chief Minister has said, teachers are the torchbearers who guide students with love and discipline. In a knowledge-based society, teachers are the intellectual weapons.” He added that both student welfare and teacher welfare are seen as the two eyes of Tamil Nadu's School Education Department. The government will continue to implement initiatives to improve school education under Dravidian Model 2.0.

“Golden Era of School Education”: Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin
Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin emphasised the long-standing bond between teachers and the Dravidian movement: “Thanthai Periyar, Perarignar Anna, and Kalaignar held immense respect for primary school teachers. At the 1929 Self-Respect Conference, Periyar passed a resolution urging more women to be appointed as primary school teachers. Kalaignar honoured that vision by prioritising women in such appointments.”

He added: “It is the primary school teachers who teach students their ABCs and prepare them for future fields like Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. They not only educate students but also prepare them to face the world. For the first time in history, our government has appointed 100% of graduate teachers in hilly regions — a historic achievement. The Chief Minister has often referred to this period under Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi as the ‘golden era of school education’ — and rightly so.”
Kalaignar’s Pen and Teacher Welfare
“Primary school teachers are the anchors of education. This is why Kalaignar introduced numerous schemes to support them. It was his signature that granted state government employees and teachers pay parity with the Union Government, and with a single order, he made the appointments of over 50,000 teachers permanent.”

Following the congratulatory messages from the CM, Deputy CM, and Minister, the appointment orders were distributed by Udhayanidhi Stalin. Teachers received them with great joy and took group photos to mark the occasion.
Launch of “THIRAN” and TN SPARK Programmes
To empower students with future-facing skills like Computer Science, Coding, AI, and Online Tools, Deputy CM launched the following:

- • THIRAN (Targeted Help for Improving Remediation & Academic Nurturing): A programme with a ₹19 crore investment to improve language and math skills for students in Classes 6–9 in government middle, high, and higher secondary schools.
- • TN SPARK (Tamil Nadu School Programme for Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Knowledge of Online Tools): A curriculum to equip students in Classes 6–9 with fundamental computer science knowledge, AI skills, and technical proficiency.
A New Path in Life
The event concluded with student performances and the issuing of appointment orders to new teachers. This was not just an appointment — it was a life-changing moment, symbolising pride and purpose for each teacher stepping into public service. We extend our best wishes to these newly appointed teachers as they begin their journey of educating future generations.
