Tamil Nadu Students to Represent India at ISF World School Gymnasiade 2025 in Serbia met Min. Anbil Mahesh

Chennai, 02, April 2025 – Six young athletes from Tamil Nadu are set to represent the state at the prestigious ISF World School U15 Gymnasiade 2025, scheduled to take place in Serbia from April 4 to 14 met Tn Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi.

To support their international journey, a total fund of ₹15 lakhs—₹2.5 lakhs per athlete—was disbursed today from the Tamil Nadu Champions Foundation at the Secretariat. The amount will cover their travel, airfare, and accommodation expenses.

Tiruchirappalli, 29, March 2025 – As per the guidance of DMK President and Hon’ble Chief Minister Thiru. M.K. Stalin, a massive protest was organised by the Thiruverumbur North and South Union DMK units in Tiruchirappalli (South) District, condemning the Union BJP government.

Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi led the protest, joined by the people of his Thiruverumbur constituency, demanding the release of ₹4,034 crore due to Tamil Nadu under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. He accused the Union BJP government of acting arrogantly and denying the rightful funds owed to the state.

Enhanced Street Lighting Brings New Life to Nagapattinam’s Beach Roads

Nagapattinam, 28, March 2025 – In a major step towards improving public safety and accessibility, upgraded street lighting has been installed along key access routes to the newly developed Nagapattinam beach. The initiative follows concerns raised by local residents about inadequate illumination on roads including S.P. Bungalow Road, ADJ Polytechnic Road, and the main Beach Road.

Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi inaugurated the upgraded lighting system at the new Nagai beach, symbolically switching on the lights for public use.

Responding to public feedback, authorities replaced the existing 20-watt streetlights with more powerful 100-watt fixtures. Similarly, the 200-watt lights already installed near the new beach were upgraded to 400-watt lights to enhance visibility and safety in the area during night-time hours.

Further strengthening the initiative, two new high-mast electric towers have also been installed in strategic locations to provide broader coverage. The entire project was completed at an estimated cost of ₹26 lakhs, funded through government allocations prioritising civic infrastructure and public welfare.

As part of the celebration, welfare aid packages—including new clothes, rice, and essential groceries—were distributed to 3,000 families, spreading festive joy and extending vital support to the local community.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister underscored that under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Thiru M. K. Stalin and the visionary guidance of Deputy Chief Minister Thiru Udhayanidhi Stalin, the Dravidian Model government continues to act as a stronghold in safeguarding the rights and dignity of the Muslim community. Minister for School Education, Mr. Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, graced the centenary valedictory celebration of Muthamizharignar Dr. Kalaignar, held at Anna Centenary Library, along with Ms. Geetha Jeevan, Minister for Social Welfare and Women Empowerment, and Professor Subaveerapandian, Chairperson of the Social Justice Monitoring Committee. The event was jointly organised by the Public Libraries Department – Chennai City Library Authority and the Social Justice Monitoring Committee.

The Minister highlighted that one of Kalaignar’s most profound contributions was the creation of Samathuvapuram, a pioneering initiative that reflected his vision of social equality and inclusive living. It was not merely a scheme, but a powerful statement about the kind of society Kalaignar envisioned—one grounded in harmony and justice. He further remarked that Kalaignar’s impact was undeniable across the realms of language, culture, society, and governance, and that he had always provided clear, actionable plans for every ideology he upheld.

Concluding his remarks, the Minister stated that as inheritors of Kalaignar’s legacy, they carried the spirit of resistance and self-respect, much like Veerapandiya Kattabomman, and were prepared to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to their beliefs and ideals, following in Kalaignar’s footsteps.

Tamil–Indo-European Dictionary Project: A Milestone in Linguistic Research

Chief Minister Thiru. M. K. Stalin and School Education Minister Mr. Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi released the General Introduction and Volume 1 of the Comparative Lexical Analysis Dictionary between Tamil and Indo-European Languages at the Secretariat on March 25, 2025. Mr. Sugata Das, Managing Director of Oxford University Press – India Division, received the first copies.

The Comparative Etymology Dictionary of Tamil and Indo-European Languages is a landmark project jointly developed by the Tamil Nadu Textbook and Educational Services Corporation and Oxford University Press. Published across 12 volumes, the project was initiated in 2022 to explore the lexical relationships between Tamil and Indo-European languages.

Significantly, the research has revealed that out of 461 root words studied, 300 show connections with the Tamil language, highlighting the depth and richness of Tamil’s linguistic heritage.

This pioneering initiative marks a significant step in promoting Tamil’s global linguistic relevance through scholarly collaboration.
